I have just finished the lemonade diet in which I was consuming the juice of 10 lemons a day on average. I have developed much appreciation for a lemon and from now on I will call it a superfood.

A peeled lemon contains vitamin C, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B9. as well as calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, potassium and zinc. This little fruit is a nutrition powerhouse.  

Although a lemon has a ph of 2.5 to 3.0, acidic in its nature, once it is digested it leaves an alkalizing effect in the body.  By adding this superfood to your daily diet, you will be doing your body, mind and health a favor.

-         Contains heart healthy minerals such as potassium and magnesium

-         Alkalizes the body

 

The next time you find yourself reaching for those life killing soft drinks, have a refreshing home made lemonade instead.

 

Fresh And Healthy Lemonade Recipe

 

-         1 fresh squeezed lemon ( 4 table spoons )

-         8 to 10oz. of water

-         1 to 2 teaspoons of Agave Nectar as sweetener if needed.

 

A freshly squeezed lemon may only yield 2 tablespoons of juice unless you use a citrus juicer. Dilute the tablespoons into the water and mix. Add the sweetener if you want. Avoid using refined white sugar as it causes havoc in your body. Use Agave nectar instead.
