There is no wonder why strawberry and banana is a popular combination in not only yogurt but also among smoothie enthusiasts. The sweetness and sometimes tartness of the strawberry compliments nicely with the creaminess of the banana.  Bananas in general are a great way to mellow out any of the more tart fruits you add to your favorite smoothie recipe.

A trick to always having smoothie ready bananas on hand to add to any recipe is to wait for the bananas to ripen, then peel them, cut them
into smaller 1 inch pieces and place in zip lock bags in the freezer. By adding frozen bananas to your smoothie you do not have to add ice
to get to the appropriate slushy texture you most likely are looking for.

Strawberries can be added fresh, or you can choose to freeze them ahead of time as well.  Of course you can also just opt for buying
already frozen strawberries at the store as they are readily available frozen all times of the year in the freezer section.

Basic Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Ingredients:
- 2 cups of medium strawberries
- 1 frozen banana
- ¼ - ½ cup of water ( add till you get consistency you desire)

Instructions:
Add desired amount of strawberries and 1 frozen banana previously cut
into smaller sections. Add ¼ - ½ cup of water or enough to make sure
your blender will blend the ingredients properly. ( for additional
creaminess you can add some milk, coconut milk, etc, instead of water
or in addition to the water.  Just make sure not to add too much
liquid or you will lose the slushy texture.  It’s best to add just
enough to make sure your blender won’t get jammed on the frozen fruit
pieces)

Strawberry Banana Creamsicle
