How Vegetable Smoothie Recipes May Make You Healthier and Help You Lose Weight

Vegetable smoothie recipes have many health benefits. They are an easy way to get the five servings of vegetables and fruits recommended by the American Cancer Society for the prevention of cancer, and they also lower the risk of other chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Smoothie recipes that contain high-potassium vegetables can help stop bone loss and balance blood pressure, and those that are rich in vitamin A are great for eye and skin health and can help prevent infection.

Not only is a vegetable smoothie recipe a great way to get enough vegetables, but it may actually be healthier than eating the raw vegetables alone. Putting vegetables in smoothie recipes breaks them down so that the vitamins are more readily assimilated by the body and the fiber is easier to digest. It is also easy to add extra ingredients to vegetable smoothie recipes, such as garlic to boost the immune system or ginger to reduce inflammation. In addition, these smoothie recipes can be a great way to sneak vegetables into kids' diets.

Another advantage of consuming a vegetable smoothie recipe is that it can support weight loss. Vegetables are low in calories yet rich in fiber and complex carbohydrates; this means that vegetable smoothie recipes digest slowly, and your stomach feels full for long periods of time. If you have trouble with the taste of vegetables, simply add some low- glycemic fruit to your vegetable moothie recipe to sweeten it up or some spicy ingredients to give your smoothie a more savory flavor.
